This Workshop helps develop the following skills:

  • Assertiveness: This session gives the participant skills and techniques to express feelings, wishes, wants and desires appropriately and in a clear, open and reasonable way, without undermining their own or other rights.
  • Negotiating: This session gives the participant a number of strategies for successful negotiation in a number of different contexts. Participants will be able to define what is meant by negotiation, identify factors that can determine the outcome of a negotiation and understand the principle of 'win-win' negotiations.
  • Problem Solving & Critical Thinking: This session focuses on learning how to solve problems in a variety of ways in the workplace. Participants will identify how to properly tell the difference between criticism, praise, and feedback and reacting appropriately. Participants will gain strategies for making ethical decisions, solving problems on a team with others, and learning how to take into account others' perceptions when assessing actions or statements in the workplace.
  • Decision Making: This session focuses on participants examining the choices they make, challenges them to explore the context of decision-making and provides useful skills for future choices. Participants learn how to think about the messages they receive, explore the impact of their decisions and create strategies for improvement.
