An in-depth look at practical approaches to Human Resources for small to medium sized organizations

The Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau is happy to offer our "HR Recipes for Success" series – This is 10 practical HR focused workshops instructed by a leading non-profit Human Resources expert, designed specifically for supervisors, managers and HR professionals who are new to managing staff or could just use a bit more training around day-to-day HR functions, conflict management, recruitment, employee coaching, employee discipline, policy development, and much more!

Workshops are 90 minutes every Wednesday, 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, starting March 14th, 2018! Each workshop is full of practical learning, valuable networking and opportunities to ask questions of a prominent non-profit Human Resources leader. Participants will walk away with tips, tools and resources that you can use, the moment you get back to work! Come learn how to handle difficult situations minimize organizational risks, and create solid strategic plans for recruitment & more.

“What's the big deal about HR Policies?”

Learn about the importance of having proper Human Resources practices/policies in place at your organization and hear about some of the  biggest mistakes organizations make when it comes to HR management.

Employee Recruitment & Retention

Learn about the different ways you can change your current Employee Recruitment processes, build new ones and learn about new ways to get your positions out there and how we can keep a hold of our key players in the workplace.

Performance Management

Learn about the differences between "coaching" and "discipline" and what each  entails. During this workshop we'll review the important steps around performance management and give you should tips and  resources to assist you

Implementing HR Technology

Technology sometimes creates difficulties for HR  professionals who are overwhelmed with the  magnitude of  resources that require analysis with which they may not be familiar.  Learn strategies for successfully using HR technology in your organization.

Managing Employee Illness, Absences & Injuries

Learn about how to properly manage employee absences (illness,  Injury, personal leaves, etc.) and how you can reduce your administrative costs. Also you'll learn about importance of an Employee Assistance Program

Building Culture

How do you create a workforce that is ready, able, and eager to take the organization to the next level? Come learn what  engages and motivates employees and how to create an environment in which employees thrive.

Workshops instructed by Lloyd Fischer, RPR, Q. Med, Director of Human Resources
About Lloyd: Lloyd has worked throughout Ontario & Alberta with several companies and social services agencies developing recruitment and retention programs and helping organizations to create solid strategic plans for continued organizational growth.Lloyd received certification in Mediation and Dispute Resolution and currently holds the Q. Med designation in Canada and is currently a Commissioner for Oaths for the Province of Alberta. Previous to working with his current agency, he worked for several not-for-profit organizations, and at Radio and Television stations as an on-air personality in both Ontario and Alberta. Lloyd has completed his certificate in Not-For-Profit Leadership, Journalism and Communications, and has graduated from the University of Alberta - School of Business in the Human Resources Executive Program and is a proud graduate of Mount Royal University's Managing Conflict program. He is a member of the Human Resources Professionals Association of Canada (HRPA), the Alternate Dispute Resolution Institute of Alberta (ADRIA), the Association of Professional Recruiters of Canada (APRC) and, he is a member of the Alberta Disability Workers Association (ADWA). Lloyd is also a certified instructor for “Crucial Conversations” and is a founding member of the Rotary Club of Grande Prairie After Five.
